The town of Magburaka, in the Northern District of Tonkolili, was transformed into a sea of red as supporters of the All People’s Congress (APC) gathered to welcome their leading flagbearer aspirant, Dr Ibrahim Bangura, in a grand style on Sunday.
Dr Bangura’s convoy was picked up at Mayawlor town, some kilometres from Magburaka, and escorted to the town, where he addressed a packed crowd.
Speaking to supporters, Dr Bangura tackled key issues such as the economy, education, and healthcare, and called for unity and reconciliation among party members and the community.
Dr Bangura emphasised the importance of serving all Sierra Leoneans of any region, tribe, or political affiliation, promising an inclusive government.
He also stressed the need for peaceful political discourse and national stability, calling for an end to divisive rhetoric.
Stakeholders of the APC expressed their unwavering support for Dr Bangura, with parliamentarians, grassroots supporters, and residents turning out in force to receive him.
The event was a clear indication of the growing momentum behind Dr Bangura’s campaign for the APC flagbearership.
As he continues his nationwide tour, the eyes of Sierra Leone are on Tonkolili, where the stage is set for a historic show of political strength.
