The National Revenue Authority (NRA), through its Domestic Tax Department (DTD), has issued a public notice urging all taxpayers to remain compliant with their tax obligations during the festive season.

The notice, released today, extends warm seasonal compliments and appreciation to all Sierra Leoneans for their contributions to national development.

In the statement, the Commissioner General highlighted the vital role of taxpayers in building roads, equipping hospitals, improving education, and supporting other essential public services. “Your taxes help strengthen public services that benefit every citizen,” the notice read.

The NRA outlined key obligations for businesses and taxpayers during the festive period:All businesses are required to issue GST receipts for every sale using the approved ECR system. To ensure compliance during the busy festive period, the NRA has deployed mystery shoppers and business supervisors to monitor transactions and

Traders and consumers dealing in alcohol, soft drinks, tobacco, bottled water, and other excisable products must ensure all goods carry the official Excise Stamp, confirming that duties have been paid and products entered the market legally. Selling unstamped goods is an offense and may result in penalties or confiscation.

Event organizers and promoters are reminded to register events and pay the applicable GST on ticket sales and gate proceeds. NRA officers, in collaboration with the Sierra Leone Police, will monitor compliance to ensure smooth and uninterrupted celebrations.
