The Sierra Leone Police have arrested a man in connection with the death of a 30-year-old woman whose body was discovered in Manjama Town, Soa Chiefdom, Kono District, on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Fea Korwah, 30.

The incident came to light on Monday, 29th June 2026, at approximately 11:00 a.m., when residents of Manjama Town reported a persistent, strong offensive odour coming from a residential house.

According to eyewitness accounts gathered by Soa Community Radio, the smell had grown unbearable over the weekend, raising concern among neighbours.

Town Chief Mohamed Biango said he was immediately notified. He alerted officers at the Kainkordu Police Post, who responded alongside personnel from the Tankoro Police Division and local stakeholders.

Upon arrival, authorities observed that the main door was locked from the outside while all windows were left open. Residents suspected that an individual may have used a window as an escape route.

With authorisation from local authorities, police broke the lock to gain entry. Inside, officers found Fea Korwah lying lifeless on the floor in a pool of blood.

Police reports from the scene indicate that the deceased sustained multiple injuries. She had a stab wound to the neck, and her left wrist had been severed. A knife was reportedly recovered near the body.

No other persons were found inside the house at the time of discovery.

Preliminary inquiries revealed that Fea Korwah lived in the house with her husband, *Aiah Faya/Fayai, and their young child.

Sources told Soa Community Radio that on Friday, 26th June 2026, Fea Korwah, her husband, and their son told neighbours they were travelling to Maa Village in Soa Chiefdom. That was the last confirmed contact residents had with the family.

For three days after, no one saw or heard from the occupants of the house until the odour prompted residents to alert authorities on Monday.

In an update issued on Tuesday, 30th June 2026, police confirmed the arrest of a suspect.

Inspector John Saidu Koroma, Officer in Charge of the Kainkordu Police Post, confirmed that Aiah Fayai was apprehended in Kaakongor Village, Sawa Fiama Section, at approximately 1:00 a.m.

Inspector Koroma stated that following the arrest, the suspect was detained at Kainkordu Police Post for preliminary questioning before being transferred to the Tankoro Police Division* for further investigation.

Initial reports had indicated that the husband was on the run. Police have not yet released a motive.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death.

Town Chief Mohamed Biango and three other community members are currently assisting police with inquiries.

Meanwhile, police have instructed family members of the deceased to proceed with burial arrangements in accordance with local customs.

The Sierra Leone Police have appealed to members of the public with relevant information to come forward to aid the investigation.
