Vice President Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has urged religious leaders to promote unity and restraint following a viral video in which an imam warned Muslims against accepting Christmas greetings or food from Christians.
Speaking at the Tabligh Mosque in Macdonald, the Vice President reminded faith leaders that Sierra Leone is globally respected for peaceful religious coexistence. He stressed that religious teachings should strengthen social harmony, not divide communities.
Dr Juldeh Jalloh said Muslims and Christians in Sierra Leone share families, ceremonies, and daily life, describing interfaith unity as central to national identity. He called on religious leaders to show humility, wisdom, and moderation.
